Privacy Policy
How we look after your details and your pet's details.
Last updated: date to add at launch
Who we are
Oak & Paw is a small family pet care business in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire. The owner is responsible for your information. Contact us on phone number to add.
What we collect
- About you: your name, mobile, email, address (for home visits and house sitting), and an emergency contact.
- About your pet: name, breed, age, sex, weight, health, medication, vaccinations, behaviour, routine, vet details, pet insurer, and photos you send us.
- About your booking: dates, services, prices, and payment records (amount, date and reference). We never see or store card details.
We never store key-safe codes in our records. We receive them by private message and delete them when your booking ends.
Why we use it
- To take and run your booking and look after your pet (to carry out our contract with you).
- To get your pet help in an emergency, including sharing details with a vet (to protect your pet's welfare, and our legitimate interest in caring safely).
- To keep payment and booking records for tax (a legal obligation).
- To send one reminder about booking again, roughly 6 to 8 weeks later (our legitimate interest). You can say no at any time.
- To share photos of your pet on our website or social media, only if you tick the box to agree. You can change your mind at any time.
Where it's kept
We keep your details in our private Google account (Gmail, Google Sheets and Google Calendar), and in our messages with you on WhatsApp. Google may store data outside the UK, with legal safeguards in place.
Who we share it with
Only your vet or an emergency vet when your pet needs care, and anyone the law requires. We never sell your details or add you to marketing lists.
How long we keep it
To confirm before launch. We suggest keeping booking and payment records for 6 years for tax, and your pet's profile until you ask us to delete it, or 2 years after your last booking.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or object to how we use it. Just contact us. If you're not happy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
